BIO BLURB
Eugene Ripper is a trailblazing Canadian punk folk rocker and singer-songwriter. From his roots with Canada’s first wave surf punk rockers Stark Naked and the Fleshtones and throughout a solo career featuring a mashup of punk, folk, garage blues, twisted country, rockabilly and rock n roll Ripper continues to nail it down with his unique musical footprint all wrapped up in DIY punk rock ethos and an acclaimed lyrical songwriting stance. It’s a journey that has seen him flourish in the Toronto punk scene, the muddy roots of Vancouver’s pacific northwest scene, the vibrant anti-folk scene of New York City's East Village and on stages throughout Europe, England and Scotland.
"Volleying between punk, folk and rock Ripper jumps all over each style, stealing from one and reshaping another until he comes up with a unique sound and vibe all his own." Toronto Star
"Ripper puts spikes back in folk music."
Vancouver Province
"Few can turn a couple of chords into something majestic,
Ripper has the gift." Ottawa Citizen
