Eugene Ripper is a trailblazing Canadian punk folk rocker and singer-songwriter. From his roots with Canada’s first wave surf punk rockers Stark Naked and the Fleshtones and throughout a solo career featuring a mashup of punk, folk, garage blues, twisted country, rockabilly and rock n roll Ripper continues to nail it down with his unique musical footprint all wrapped up in DIY punk rock ethos and an acclaimed lyrical songwriting stance. It’s a journey that has seen him flourish in the Toronto punk scene, the muddy roots of Vancouver’s pacific northwest scene, the vibrant anti-folk scene of New York City's East Village and on stages throughout Europe, England and Scotland. with reviews noting his “Rick Rubin‑era Johnny Cash” solo performances and even "John Prine meets The Ramones"

Chris Magerl war in den frühen 2000ern in diversen Punkbands aktiv. Mit ihnen tourte er durch Europa und Kanada, spielte auf großen Festivals wie dem Sziget Festival in Budapest oder dem Frequency Festival in Österreich und teilte sich die Bühne
mit Bands wie der BLOODHOUND GANG, den SUBWAYS oder den BEATSTEAKS.2008 veröffentlichte der Musiker sein erstes Soloalbum, auf das in den Jahren danach noch weitere folgen sollten, die Chris Magerl wieder in verschiedene europäische Länder führten. Nach über zehn Jahren Solokarriere gründete er 2019 schließlich mit THE BURNING FLAGS sein aktuelles Projekt. Nebenbei widmet er sich auch der bildenden Kunst und veröffentlichte 2025 sein erstes Buch. In seinen Liedern erzählt Chris Magerl meist Geschichten von alltäglichen Personen
in nicht alltäglichen Lebenssituationen, oft mit einem Hauch von Gesellschaftskritik und immer authentisch
