As part of the University of Oregon’s GIS Day (Nov. 18) the Eugene Bike Infrastructure Mapathon will bring students, faculty, and community members together to improve walking and biking data in OpenStreetMap (OSM). This hands-on event supports better active transportation planning in Eugene and beyond by refining key map features such as bike lanes, paths, sidewalks, crosswalks, and other pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure. Participants will learn how high‑quality OSM data contributes to tools like the PeopleForBikes Bicycle Network Analysis (BNA), campus mobility planning, and decision‑making for safer, more connected streets. Whether attendees are seasoned mappers or complete beginners, the Mapathon will provide structured training, reference guides, curated tasks, and on-site support. By the end of the session, everyone will have contributed meaningful data updates that support transportation equity, climate goals, and community‑driven mapping.Sign up for the Mapathon to help create a better Open Street Map!
