Annual Community All Saints' Service of RemembranceThe Chancel Choir of Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church welcomes singers from the Parish Choir of St. John's Episcopal, The Civic Chorale, Voices of the Mountains, Appalachian Men's Ensemble, and East Tennessee State University in a service of prayer and song as we remember those who have died this past year.
The Prelude begins at 3:30 p.m. with Nick Andrews and Matthew Brickey on organ and piano.
At 4:00 p.m. the Sanctuary will be filled with prayer and choral selections by Howard Goodall (from Eternal Light: A Requiem), Elaine Hagenberg, Susan LaBarr, and Ola Gjeilo. The Munsey Memorial Carillon Ringers will present a brand new arrangement of a Samuel Barber work as we recognize those saints in the community who have passed on from this world.
Featured soloists for the service are Miriam Smith (soprano), Mark Merriman (tenor), and Ken Denmark (bass).
Immediately following the service, the Chancel Choir will host a Chili Cook-Off Fundraiser in the Christian Life Center Gym. This will be a time of fellowship as the Chancel Choir prepares for their 2027 trip to England where they - along with choirs from around the world - will present Howard Goodall's Eternal Light: A Requiem at Ely Cathedral.
All events are free and open to the public.
