October 9th at 7:00pm we’ll be tasting wines from Chilean producer Escudo Rojo with Pierre de Rothschild. You may recognize the name, as one of the most famous and prestigious wine estates in the world, including Chateau Lafite Rothschild and Chateau Mouton Rothschild, Premier Cru sites of Bordeaux.

Escudo Rojo is owned and produced by the iconic French company Baron Philippe de Rothschild. The name Escudo Rojo is the Spanish translation of the German phrase "Rote Schild," which translates to "red shield" and is a direct nod to the famous Rothschild family. The brand was established in 1999 in Chile’s Maipo Valley by the late Baroness Philippine de Rothschild (daughter of Baron Philippe de Rothschild) to stamp the family's permanent winemaking footprint in South America. The project applies traditional Bordeaux blending techniques and French winemaking standards to grapes grown in Chile's terroir. The winery operates its own bodega and vineyards in Buin-Maipo (south of Santiago), overseen by French winemakers to maintain the exact quality expectations of the Rothschild name.
