New Orleans guitarist, singer and songwriter Eric Johanson makes raw, guitar-driven rock rooted in blues, Southern music and the sounds of his hometown, combining heavy riffs, slide guitar, strong songwriting and a high-energy power-trio live show.
Johanson's new album, The Open Bayou, was produced by Johanson and mixed and mastered by Bill Skibbe, whose recent work includes Jack White, The Raconteurs and The Kills. Johanson's previous album The Deep and the Dirty reached #1 on the Billboard Blues Albums chart. He has been named one of Guitar Player's ''25 Best New Blues Guitarists'' and one of Total Guitar's ''Top 50 Blues Guitarists of All Time,'' and earned a Grammy nomination for his work with Big Chief Monk Boudreaux.
He has toured with and supported artists including The Record Company, North Mississippi Allstars, Anders Osborne, Tab Benoit and Samantha Fish.
