Equally Yoked is a Metro Detroit-based group seeking to create spaces for practicing Christians who are single in Southeast Michigan to meet and connect in-person as well as foster relationships in accordance with 2 Corinthians 6:14.
It's the most wonderful (and romantic!) time of the year! Any relationship requires putting the well-being of each other before oneself in service. So, start a connection by serving! And what better way to usher in the birth of our humble savior?
Central Detroit Christian (CDC) is a non-profit, faith-based organization with programming for children, urban farming, and other community development initiatives. Its largest volunteering need of the year is its annual Christmas store, which allows parents to shop affordably for the holiday! The non-profit plans to serve more than 150 famillies and over 300 children this year.
Join us and other Christian singles on Saturday, December 12 at CDC in Detroit in assisting parents walk through the store, wrapping gifts, and distributing food!
Registration has been split into two age groups — Under 40 and 40+. You are not required to be a member of a particular church or denomination to participate, though we ask attendees are a part of a church to be plugged into a faith community.
The volunteer shift is from 9:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Because the CDC will be leaning on us showing up with the number of people we say we will bring, PLEASE ONLY REGISTER IF YOU DEFINITELY WILL BE THERE. If you plan to leave early or arrive late, please let us know. Our contact information is below. If you are a no-show, you will be ineligible for Equally Yoked events in 2027.
After the volunteering shift, we'll plant grab a late lunch at The Rectory, a hip nearby pizza spot (though subject to change depending on registration count)! You'll be responsible for covering the cost of anything you purchase for lunch. We'll wrap in time for you to hit up any Christmas parties!
Registration on Eventbrite is required. You'll check in with the event host with a legal photo I.D. You'll receive a wristband to indicate your participation. Ahead of the event, you'll receive an email with information on how to join a GroupMe app chat for updates the day of the event.
Festive attire is encouraged! Bring out those ugly sweaters, santa hats, and a jolly attitude!
Please note alcohol is served at The Rectory. We ask that should participants choose to drink, they do so responsibly and do not drive under the influence.
We also ask that all participants demonstrate the Christian virtues of kindness, respect, and grace when interacting with others, especially as we will represent Christ.
CDC has an on-site parking lot. There is street parking for The Rectory.
This event will NOT include speed dating.
