This will be an epic National Park trip!! Hiking (mild to moderate), canoe/kayak canyon river float, stargazing (you can actually see the Milky Way!). This is a special place and the entire region is “dark sky” designated so no bright lights interfering with the stars! The plan right now is to get Airbnb(s) to minimize the gear needed and also with no camp set up time, we have more exploration time.
Itinerary:
Day 1 Wed 11/11 leave DFW 5:30am. 11-12 hour drive. Settle in, dinner, stargazing.
Day 2 Thurs 11/12. 1.5 mile canyon hike. 1/2 day kayak or canoe guided river canyon float. Dinner. Stargazing.
Day 3 Friday 11/13. Lost Mine Trail hike (5 miles). Flex Time/explore. Terligua Ghost Town. Dinner. stargazing
Day 4 Saturday 11/14. East side. 1.4 mile Boquillas Canyon hike. Visit Hot Springs Historic District and soak in natural hot springs!!!
Dinner. Stargazing. Pack up.
Day 5 Sunday 11/15. Drive home. Leave by 6am.
