About this Event
About this event
Understanding refrigerant handling means understanding both the requirements and the reasons behind them.
Join FIA’s Robb Ellis for an EPA Section 608 preparation course and certification exam designed for HVAC/R technicians, installers, apprentices, and maintenance professionals.
We’ll connect the exam material to the work technicians perform in the field, with clear explanations and opportunities to ask questions before testing.
What we’ll cover
- Refrigerant fundamentals and environmental impact
- Safe refrigerant handling and cylinder practices
- Recovery, recycling, and reclamation
- Leak detection and evacuation principles
- EPA Section 608 requirements and technician responsibilities
- Preparation for the Core, Type I, Type II, and Type III exam sections
Certification exam
Following the course, participants will take a proctored EPA Section 608 certification exam. Certification earned depends on the exam sections successfully completed. Universal certification requires passing Core and all three equipment sections.
Course attendance alone does not award certification.
Prepare before you arrive
Studying before class is strongly encouraged, particularly for participants new to refrigeration. The course provides a focused review and an opportunity to clarify material before the exam.
