Looking to engage middle school or high school students with plant science? Join U.S. Botanic Garden educators to zoom inside plant cells and discover the amazing diversity of the plant world through the lens of genetics. First, you will extract DNA from within plant cells and model the meiosis process to better understand why some plants don’t produce seeds. Next, you will have an opportunity for after-hours exploration of the plant collections within the U.S. Botanic Garden Conservatory. Finally, you will make a plan for bringing plant science investigations back to your secondary science classroom. Dinner will be provided. Certificates will be available for PDUs. This program is offered in collaboration with the Friends of the U.S. Botanic Garden.
