Energy, Mines & Progress: From Coast to Coast to Coast

Canada has no shortage of proposed energy, mining and infrastructure projects. The harder questions come after the idea is conceived: How quickly can projects move from idea to approval to construction? Where will the capital come from? How will governments, Indigenous partners and proponents share risk? And which projects will actually get built?

On Friday, October 23, Resource Works will convene senior leaders from government, energy, mining, finance, Indigenous business and professional services for a private lunch at Toronto's Fairmont Royal York.

Minister Tim Hodgson's keynote address will be followed by a leaders' discussion examining the gap between policy and project delivery, how Canada is working to close it, and what will determine whether major Canadian projects proceed.

MINISTER OF ENERGY AND NATURAL RESOURCES, CANADA

The Honourable Tim Hodgson brings experience spanning public service, capital markets and Canadian energy. Before entering federal politics, he served in senior roles including CEO of Goldman Sachs Canada, special adviser at the Bank of Canada and Chair of Hydro One. He is the Member of Parliament for Markham-Thornhill.

CHAIR OF THE BOARD, AGNICO EAGLE MINES LIMITED

Sean Boyd is one of Canada's best-known mining leaders. During his tenure as CEO from 1998 to 2022, Agnico Eagle grew from a small, single-mine gold producer into a multi-mine international company. He served as Executive Chair until his retirement in December 2023 and now chairs the company's board.

CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER, TRANS MOUNTAIN CORPORATION

Jennifer Pierce provides strategic oversight for Human Resources, Information Technology, Corporate Communications and Government Relations, and Corporate Facilities at Trans Mountain. She has nearly 30 years of energy-sector experience, including senior executive roles at TC Energy and TransAlta Corporation.

This lunch is designed for senior decision-makers and advisers involved in Canadian resource development, including leaders in energy, mining, finance, institutional investment, Indigenous business, government, law, engineering and professional services.
