About this Event
This training day is designed for people interested in learning how to help their local residents with practical advice about making their homes warmer, more comfortable and energy efficient - from draught proofing, insulation and other simple measures that can help reduce energy use and costs.
It will also touch on carbon monoxide safety and the priority services register. Those who have previously attended a Low Carbon Hub Energy Champion training day and wish to have a refresher session are also welcome.
- What is energy advice, what are our aims as advisors, why is it important.
- Project specific knowledge - what are the projects aims, what topics does it cover, how we want it to be delivered.
- Key topics - we mostly focus on things like - energy saving tips, income maximisation, small measures advice etc - i.e. a bit more of a deep dive into the specific areas of advice we cover.
- Communication skills - in these sections we will do things like role plays, look at case studies, think about asking the right questions, working with vulnerable people.
We are currently working with Community Energy Pathways (CEP) who are providing this training, and some funding to extend our energy advice programme. This is part of a programme run by CEP and funded by Southern Gas Network (SGN) running until end May 2027.
Lunch and tea/coffee will be provided.
