About this Event
Rising energy prices on top of increases to travel costs are pushing more people into fuel poverty. They will struggle to keep their home warm this winter. This hits children and older people particularly hard.
This interactive workshop is for anyone working or volunteering with members of the public. You will learn how to spot that people are struggling, how to talk to them about it and what to do to help them.
This 2-hour interactive session will cover:
- What the causes are of fuel poverty and how it affects people
- How to indentify people at risk of fuel poverty - and how to have difficult conversations
- How to signpost and refer people to help with income maximization and finding help
- Information on giving energy advice and other information - participants will be emailed an information pack with links and resources
The session is ideal if you work with vulnerable people in any capacity. This will increase your ability to help them. You may be the only person in a position to identify that someone is facing problems with fuel poverty or their accomodation and this is what to do.
The Energy Outreach Project is being delivered in partnership between Dorset Community Action and Citizens Advice East Dorset & Purbeck. We offer a range of different sessions; see here; Energy Outreach Project SW England
