Session Focus: End-of-Life Care Options
This session provides an overview of end-of-life care options, including hospice, palliative care, and medical aid in dying where it is legally available. Participants will learn about the differences between these models of care, the services they provide, and how to determine which options best align with their values and needs. With guidance from an end-of-life nurse or hospice director, participants will gain a clearer understanding of the medical and non-medical support available and receive a comparison sheet to help inform future planning.
About the Series
The End-of-Life Planning 101 workshop series is designed to help individuals understand, navigate, and take action on key end-of-life planning topics. Facilitated by the PAUSE team and rotating BIPOC death doulas and guest speakers, each 90-minute session offers education, grounding, and space for questions around essential documents and decisions - from advance directives and wills to body disposition, digital legacy, and grief plans for loved ones. Whether participants are just beginning to think about end-of-life planning or need support updating existing paperwork, this series provides compassionate, culturally relevant guidance to approach these conversations with clarity, care, and confidence.
