About this Event
You are cordially invited to End of Each Month, a theatre performance by Parastoo Theatre, a refugee-led and founded theatre group, in collaboration with Asylum Access Malaysia.
In the absence of a legal framework, refugees are denied formal rights to work and earn a dignified livelihood in Malaysia. They often find themselves living in extreme poverty, working in exploitative environments, and hiding on urban margins. In order to survive, many are forced to take on informal work despite profound risk and fear of being arrested, detained and subject to harassment by authorities. Consequently, refugees face significant barriers in accessing labour protections and do not have proper avenues for seeking redress from unscrupulous employers.
Inspired by the cases assisted through our work rights programme, Asylum Access Malaysia together with Parastoo Theatre hopes to shed some light on the experiences and realities of refugee workers in Malaysia through this performance.
