About this Event

Encore à Savoie

A little French flair. A musical surprise. An evening to savor.

Tahoe Music Alive invites you to Encore à Savoie, a special gathering bringing together chamber music, seasonal cuisine, and conversation—with the musicians joining you at the table.

Begin at 3:30 p.m. with sparkling wine and a selection of three canapés. At 4:00 p.m., the Dolphins, who won the hearts of Tahoe in July, now performing as a trio, will share an intimate 30-minute performance full of the warmth, spirit, and musical connection that make live chamber music so compelling. (See below for more on the Dolphins.)

Then settle in for a four-course dinner beginning at 5:00 p.m., accompanied by two wine pairings. The musicians will dine alongside guests, offering a chance to get to know the people behind the music. And there may be a musical encore or two along the way…

Come with friends, meet fellow music lovers, and enjoy an evening of music and hospitality with Tahoe Music Alive at the extraordinary Savoie Tahoe.

WHO ARE THE DOLPHINS?

Hailed as one of the most exciting young chamber groups on the classical music scene today, the Dolphins have earned award-winning recognition for their passionate performances and musical daring. They carry a pedigree that speaks for itself: the group has been mentored by the legendary Juilliard String Quartet and are in residence this fall at Stanford University as part of the St. Lawrence Legacy Series. Passionate educators and arts advocates, the Julliard-born Dolphins have launched their own Young Composers Program, culminating in eleven world premieres by middle- and high-school aged student composers. The three Dolphins playing for the Encore are:

Ian Maloney, cellist, composer, and chamber musician, Ian is from Hackensack, New Jersey. He holds both a BM and MM from The Juilliard School, where he studied under the mentorship of the legendary Joel Krosnick. Ian has performed across the country alongside renowned artists such as Daniel Phillips, Keith Robinson, Molly Carr, and others.

Luke Henderson, violin, from Raleigh, North Carolina, began playing violin at the age of three. He currently studies with Ms. Laurie Smukler at The Juilliard School in New York City. Luke made his solo debut with the Georgia Philharmonic at age 12. In 2020, Luke was the Gold Medal Winner in the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and the Coltman National Chamber Music Competition. In 2021 Luke won The American Prize in Instrumental Performance and the Grand Prize at the World Classical Music Awards.

James Perucil, a violist and composer interested in chamber music, community connection in many forms, and championing the viola as a solo instrument. James earned his Bachelor of Music degree from The Juilliard School, where he is now pursuing his Master of Music degree on full scholarship as a Kovner fellow under the tutelage of Samuel Rhodes and Molly Carr.
