About this Event
In this 2.5 hour workshop, you will learn the basics of fusing glass onto copper to create your own, vibrant and unique enameled ornament. You will be introduced to various techniques of enameling, including metal preparation, sifting, stenciling, sgraffito, lumps and over-glazed application.
Join us in this joyful moment of creativity and discover the wonderful and endless possibilities of fusing glass onto metal. This is a very rare opportunity to have a unique, hands-on workshop from Faith Layard, an enamel artist whose work you can see at The Clay & Glass Gallery in Waterloo in her present solo exhibition “Verdant Strata”. As an enameling educator at George Brown Polytechnic, her presence at the Gallery is an incredible learning opportunity!

About Faith Layard:
Faith Layard is an active Enamellist/Jeweller/metalsmith living and working in Burlington, Ontario, and a part-time Professor in the Jewellery Studies Program at George Brown College in Toronto. "Shifts and Transformations in nature inform and influence my creative thinking. While enamelling allows me to express form, movement, and line, with a full spectrum of colour, brilliance, and depth, the interplay of enamel and metal guide my process. Through jewellery, vessel forms and wall pieces, I celebrate a moment of beauty, conrast, evolution, existence. In creating, teaching, and sharing my Enamel works, I hope to inspire viewers to see deeply, and live passionately."
