EMOTE harnesses the expressive power of strings to speak directly to the heart. The first half pairs Anna Clyne’s achingly poignant Within Her Arms, written in memory of her mother, with the exhilarating sweep of Alexander Miller’s ROCOmoji, which invites a sextet of double reeds to join the strings for a vibrant, witty sonic palette that will make you lol 😉. Schoenberg’s passionate Transfigured Night concludes the program, unfolding in a richly textured, intimate score that moves from night-shrouded anguish to radiant reconciliation at dawn.
