Course aim;
The aim of the qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge and skills to manage a casualty in the outdoor and activity based environments who requires emergency care until further assistance from the emergency services can be obtained.
The Course is broken into three distinct phases.
1. Training.
2. Assessment.
3. Scenario.
Course content
1. Understand the role and responsibility of a First Aider.
2. Be able to assess an incident (inc primary survey).
3. Be able to conduct a secondary survey.
4. Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally.
5. Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is NOT breathing normally.
6. Be able to Recognise and assist a casualty who is choking.
7. Be able to Manage a casualty who is wounded and bleeding.
8. Be able to Manage a casualty who is in shock.
9. Be able to administer First Aid to a casualty with injuries to bones., muscles and joints.
10. Be able to administer First Aid to a casualty with suspected head and spinal injuries.
11. Be able to administer First Aid to a casualty with a suspected chest injury.
12. Be able to administer First Aid to a casualty with burns and scalds.
13. Be able to administer First Aid to a casualty with an eye injury.
14. Be able to administer First Aid to a casualty with anaphylaxis.
15. Be able to administer First Aid to a casualty with sudden poisoning.
16. Be able to administer First Aid to a casualty with suspected major illness.
17. Be able to administer First Aid to a casualty suffering with the Effects of Heat and Cold.
18. Be able to administer First Aid to a casualty suffering with the Effects of bites and stings.
£20 person to cover Hall fees.
It is strongly advised that learners wear comfortable clothing and be further advised that during the scenario phase. Evidence of wounds and bleeding will be present and learners will come into contact with 'fake blood'.
