About this Event
Join us for an evening of art, mindfulness, and meditation, set to the grounding and immersive sounds of live cello and poetry. You’re invited to slow down, breathe deeply, and allow yourself to be in the present moment. Selected pieces of poetry will be read aloud to inspire your imagination to expand, while the cello sound bath will activate your sensory body. There will be moments of pause and space, as well as moments of creativity and connection.
During the meditation, you’re welcome to sit or lie in any position that feels comfortable. Blankets will be provided—please bring any additional supports you may need (yoga mat, pillow, bolster, etc.).
This experience is being co-facilitated by Ilan MacAdam-Somer and Teagan Rose.
Ilan's Bio
Ilan MacAdam-Somer is a cellist, meditation instructor, and environmental consultant based in Santa Barbara, CA. He holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Science and Management from the UCSB Bren School and has spent the past eight years specializing in life cycle assessment (LCA) and carbon footprinting.
Alongside his work in sustainability, Ilan is a long-time meditation practitioner and has studied mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn. His teaching emphasizes a grounded, practical approach to mindfulness that supports both mental and physical well-being.
Drawing from his background in music, Ilan integrates live cello into his sessions to create a deeply immersive and restorative experience.
When he’s not working, Ilan can be found exploring the Santa Barbara mountains and coastline—hiking, biking, camping, climbing, surfing, and playing music.
