Wystawa objazdowa elsewhereland prezentuje prace współczesnych artystów i artystek z Ukrainy, ukazujące doświadczenia przesiedleń, strat i przetrwania. Zrealizowana we współpracy Office Ukraine / tranzit.at, Federalnym Ministerstwem Spraw Europejskich i Międzynarodowych (BMEIA) oraz Federalnym Ministerstwem ds. Mieszkalnictwa, Sztuki, Kultury, Mediów i Sportu (BMWKMS), wystawa podróżuje od stycznia 2026 do końca 2027 roku, odwiedzając dziesięć Austriackich Forum Kultury i misji dyplomatycznych na całym świecie.
Projekt prezentuje dziesięciu ukraińskich artystów i artystek, z których większość żyje na wygnaniu w Europie. Pokazuje międzynarodowej publiczności współczesną scenę artystyczną Ukrainy i wysyła mocny sygnał solidarności Austrii z narodem ukraińskim. Tytuł elsewhereland przywołuje pojęcie „innego miejsca” – w sensie fizycznym, emocjonalnym i kulturowym. Wojna Rosji zmusiła miliony Ukraińców do opuszczenia swoich domów, zmieniając ich życie – jako uchodźców lub osoby przesiedlone wewnętrznie. Dla artystów nowe realia oznaczają stratę i egzystencjalną niepewność, a nawet dobrze znane miejsca w Ukrainie stały się obszarami wyobcowania, przemocy i zagrożenia. Twórcy i twórczynie uczestniczący w projekcie podejmują tematy ucieczki, migracji, mobilności, traumy, pamięci i tożsamości, badając sprzeczności wojny i wygnania. Ich prace eksplorują stany izolacji, fragmentacji kulturowej i niepewności, ale również gesty przynależności i wewnętrznej siły.

Contemporary Ukrainian perspectives from shifting ground
Die Wanderausstellung elsewhereland präsentiert zeitgenössische künstlerische Perspektiven aus der Ukraine im Angesicht von Vertreibung, Verlust und Resilienz. Entwickelt als Kooperation von Office Ukraine / tranzit.at mit dem Bundesministerium für europäische und internationale Angelegenheiten (BMEIA) und dem Bundesministerium für Wohnen, Kunst, Kultur, Medien und Sport (BMWKMS), wird die Ausstellung von Januar 2026 bis Ende 2027 in ca. zehn österreichischen Kulturforen und diplomatischen Vertretungen weltweit gezeigt. Das Projekt vereint zehn ukrainische Künstler:innen, die überwiegend im europäischen Exil leben. Es macht die aktuelle ukrainische Kunstszene international sichtbar und sendet ein starkes Signal der Solidarität Österreichs mit der ukrainischen Bevölkerung. Der Titel elsewhereland evoziert den „anderen Ort» – physisch, emotional und kulturell. Der russische Angriffskrieg hat Millionen Ukrainer:innen gezwungen, ihre Heimat zu verlassen und anderswo zu leben – im Exil oder als Binnenvertriebene. Für Künstler:innen sind diese neuen Realitäten von Verlust und existenzieller Unsicherheit geprägt, während selbst vertraute Räume innerhalb der Ukraine zu Orten der Entfremdung, Gewalt und Gefahr geworden sind. Die teilnehmenden Künstler:innen befassen sich mit Themen wie Flucht, Migration, Mobilität, Trauma, Erinnerung und Identität und navigieren durch die Widersprüche von Krieg und Exil. Ihre Arbeiten erforschen Zustände von Isolation, kultureller Fragmentierung und Unsicherheit, zeigen jedoch zugleich Gesten der Zugehörigkeit und inneren Stärke.

Contemporary Ukrainian perspectives from shifting ground
The traveling exhibition elsewhereland presents contemporary artistic perspectives from Ukraine in the face of displacement, loss, and resilience. Developed as a cooperation between Office Ukraine / tranzit.at, the Federal Ministry of European and International Affairs (BMEIA) and the Federal Ministry of Housing, Arts, Culture, Media and Sport (BMWKMS), the exhibition travels from January 2026 through the end of 2027 to around ten Austrian Cultural Forums and diplomatic missions worldwide. Bringing together ten Ukrainian artists, most of whom live in European exile, the project showcases the contemporary Ukrainian art scene internationally and sends a strong signal of solidarity from Austria with the Ukrainian people. The title elsewhereland evokes the »other place« – physically, emotionally, and culturally. Russia’s war of aggression has forced millions of Ukrainians to leave their homes and live elsewhere, either in exile or as internally displaced people. For artists, these new realities are marked by loss and existential uncertainty, while even familiar spaces inside Ukraine have turned into sites of alienation, violence, and danger. The participating artists address themes of flight, migration, mobility, trauma, memory, and identity, navigating the contradictions of war and exile. Their works explore states of isolation, cultural fragmentation, and uncertainty, but also gestures of belonging and inner strength.
