Jose Salcedo is a California native who grew up in Los Angeles and attended UCLA, He was a senior software engineer at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena prior to his retirement. Today, Jose conducts online Ikebana demonstrations, teaches local students and travels globally to present workshops and seminars. Jose has also studied Ikenobo earning an Ikenobo Diploma: Senior Professor Saiko-shoku, Junkatoku.Jose has served as president of the Ikebana International Los Angeles Chapter #4. He is active in Kado Kyoju Kai, the Ikebana Teachers Association, and the North American Ohara Teachers Association (NAOTA).
In addition to Ikebana, Jose studies, teaches and demonstrates the demanding, disciplined Japanese art of the Urasenke Tea Ceremony. His skills include the Hatsugama Tea Ceremony celebrating the beginning of the new year.
