Opera Orlando brings Donizetti’s beloved romantic comedy to life in a stylish new production inspired by Fellini’s La Dolce Vita. Set on the backlot of a glamorous 1960s Roman film studio, Elixir of Love follows aspiring screenwriter Nemorino as he attempts to win the affection of movie star Adina with the help of Dulcamara’s suspicious “love potion.”Filled with charm, comedy, and some of opera’s most recognizable music, the production blends cinematic flair with heartfelt romance. Soprano Nola Richardson stars as Adina in her Company debut with bass-baritone Robert Mellon as Dulcamara and Maria Sensi Sellner conducting.
