🎉 Third edition! El Contrapunto is a tango marathon for queer and open role dancers of varying levels of experience and diverse styles of dancing. We value a social, cheerful atmosphere as well as a respectful ronda. We love traditional tango music, occasionally sprinkled with tandas by modern orchestras.🏙 Berlin has a flourishing queer & open role tango scene, including the milongas Atípica, MilongAMIGA, Tango zum Glück, Weibermilonga and the annual Queertango Festival. It also harbors a diverse tango scene in general, with 4 to 11 milongas every day of the week. We invite you here, to return or to arrive for the first time, and to share your tango with us.
🎧 DJs confirmed so far: Fabiano Borretti, Gökçe Ceren Haznedar, Maria August, vinyl DJ duo HART & ZAP

For the curious: What are Queer & Open Role Tango?
Open role or double role tango allows dancers to switch between leading and following roles. It emphasizes improvisation and creative expression, with partners negotiating and communicating their roles. The goal is to create a strong connection between partners while exploring different aspects of their dance style and personality.
Queer tango challenges traditional gender roles within the dance, but also has a stronger political dimension by promoting inclusivity and questioning heteronormative traditions within society at large. By creating a space where diverse identities and expressions are celebrated, queer tango promotes acceptance and equality for the LGBTQ+ community and after all for each and every one. It serves as a form of resistance against discriminatory norms and empowers individuals to express themselves freely.
