TOPIC: Sustainability in Construction Contracts: Current Provisions, Amendments and Future Developments
SUMMARY: How do construction contracts address environmental responsibilities, and how might those requirements evolve?
Ian will explore the environmental and sustainability provisions within the current NEC (New Engineering Contract) and JCT (Joint Contracts Tribunal) construction contracts. The session will explain what these standard contracts already incorporate and how amendments can strengthen environmental protections.
He will also discuss the issues to consider when presented with amendments, helping attendees understand what to look out for when reviewing additional sustainability requirements.
Finally, Ian will look ahead at potential developments and how environmental and sustainability considerations could become more firmly embedded in construction contracts.
