About this Event
Join us at Grantham Museum as we celebrate the 150th birthday of Edith Smith, Grantham’s pioneering policewoman and Britain’s first female police officer with arresting powers.
Edith Smith herself will be joining us for a special day of history, fun and police-themed activities for all ages!
We’ll also be joined by the Lincolnshire Police Cadets, who will be on hand throughout the day to meet and chat with visitors about modern policing and life as a police cadet.
There will be plenty to see and do, including:
👮 Meet the Police Cadets and learn about their role
🚓 Explore modern police equipment and try on selected items
🧑✈️ Children can try on police helmets, high-visibility jackets and protective equipment
🎨 Police-themed crafts and activities throughout the day
🛡️ Learn about crime prevention and how to report low-level crime
💬 Find out what it’s like to be a police cadet and the opportunities available to young people
⭐ Police cadet demonstrations and activities
Come along and discover the remarkable story of Edith Smith while experiencing a taste of policing then and now.
A fun and fascinating day for the whole family – we look forward to seeing you!
