About this Event
How can education help us build more equitable communities and cultures?
In a world that can feel increasingly divided, what might happen if we came together to share food, questions, experiences, and ideas about the role education can play in creating more just and equitable communities?
Join students, staff, and faculty for an EdCamp as part of UVic’s 5 Days of Action.
An EdCamp is a little different from a typical workshop or presentation: the participants help shape the conversation. We’ll begin with a brief introduction and a guided process for generating the questions that matter to those in the room. From there, you’ll choose the conversations you want to join, share what you know and have experienced, listen to others, and explore possibilities together.
Our conversations will consider how education, teaching, and learning can challenge discrimination, harassment, sexualized violence, and other forms of oppression, while contributing to justice for Indigenous peoples and more equitable communities and cultures.
No preparation or particular expertise is needed. Students, staff, and faculty are all welcome. Come with a question, an experience, an idea—or simply a willingness to listen and learn with others.
