Join Dr. Zorba Paster and Rooted for a fun, informative and tasty talk about fresh food, plant-based protein and the importance of healthy eating - without breaking the bank. Right now, protein is all the rage, but what does that mean for eating whole foods? Dr. Zorba says you can eat high protein foods, on a budget, with fresh, seasonal vegetables. In this talk and food tasting event, Dr. Zorba will help us decipher the best advice for eating for a long, healthy life focusing on the five pillars of wellness. He will highlight local produce and inexpensive grocery store staples and, with the help of local chef’s recipes, will share ideas on how to eat well and live a healthy life on a budget. Whether you are a seasoned home-cook or you can’t remember the last time you turned on the stove, this discussion will get you excited about fresh produce and whole food cooking. This event is hosted at the Badger Rock Neighborhood Center in partnership with Badger Rock Middle School. We will gather in the school cafeteria for the presentation and recipe tasting. Expect a light meal of homemade bread and vegetable-focused dishes.
Community members are encouraged to attend this engaging talk and to taste locally grown food from Rooted and its partners, and learn more about Rooted’s work in urban agriculture, food access, and food-based education for youth.
