About this Event
Last few dinners we ate Malaysian and Singaporean food. This time we are moving one step further - to Indonesia.
Malaysians and Indonesians speak versions of the same language, and they share many dishes: rendang, satay, sambal, otak-otak. But Indonesia has its own history. It was colonised by the Dutch, and it is spread across more than 17.000 islands, so the food changes a lot from place to place. It's the same family of food as Malaysian, but different.
The evening is simple: we share a table, eat together and talk. None of us are experts in Indonesian food, so we'll discover things together: from the food, from the chef, and from each other. You don't need to know anything, and you're welcome to come alone.
Venue: an Indonesian restaurant in Sydney, TBD
Group size: 10-12 people
Duration: about 2 hours
Food: we share dishes as a group. I'll share the menu a few days before. We may not be able to accommodate dietary restrictions
Cost: you pay for your own food and drinks, about $40 per person. The $5 ticket holds your spot and goes towards the bill.
