Join Viktoriya Starr for an interactive cultural experience exploring Eastern European folk traditions, healing practices, and beloved fairy tales passed down through generations.
EGG-CLEANSING DEMONSTRATION Learn about the traditional egg-cleansing practice associated with the evil eye. Viktoriya will explain and demonstrate the process, including how the egg is moved around a person’s energy field without touching the body and how it is later examined in water according to traditional folk beliefs. A volunteer may participate, but participation is optional. There will be time for questions and discussion.
FAIRY TALES AND STORYTELLING Relax and listen to Russian fairy tales read aloud. Participants may sit on the floor, use a chair or pillow, or lie down with a blanket while enjoying the stories. There will be opportunities to ask questions and discuss the tales.
HANDS-ON FOLK ACTIVITIES Each session will feature a different activity inspired by Eastern European traditions. Participants will learn about wearing a red thread and a safety pin as traditional protective customs, create their own motanka-inspired folk doll, or take part in a playful fortune-telling activity using colored buttons and ribbons to discover what the coming year might hold.
This experience is designed to be welcoming, educational, and interactive. No previous knowledge of Eastern European folklore is necessary.

Your Host:
Viktoriya Starr is a holistic nurse, meditation and sound healing teacher with a liberal arts education that introduced her to a wide range of cultures, religions, and world traditions. Over time, she developed a deep interest in ethnic folklore, cultural beliefs, and traditional healing practices.
Born in Kyiv, Ukraine, Viktoriya was raised by her grandmother, a woman deeply rooted in traditional beliefs and passionate about preserving and passing down the customs and knowledge of previous generations. From an early age, her grandmother introduced her to Eastern European folk traditions, stories, and healing practices that remain an important part of Viktoriya’s cultural heritage.
One of these traditions is egg cleansing, an ancient folk-healing practice believed to help clear negativity associated with the evil eye. Her grandmother believed this was an important tradition that every family should know and pass down through generations. Viktoriya hopes to continue that legacy by sharing this practice and other cultural traditions with others.
