When: Sunday 1st November noon - 3pmWhere: Lifeguard beach on the prom, near the Wish Tower, Eastbourne seafront
What: Oceans Campaign Stall.
Come along and join us, we are campaigning to protect the Oceans
38% of UK waters are Marine Protected Areas but remarkably trawling & other destructive fishing is allowed in them. We need to persuade the Government to legislate to actually protect these areas properly to allow the ecosystems to flourish & create generally more healthy seas.
January 11th to 22nd is Oceans COP1 the first ever Conference Of the Parties to implement the BBNJ Treaty (Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction aka The High Seas Treaty) will be held at the UN in New York .
We need the government to making strong ocean protection commitments at that meeting and encouraging other countries to do the same. It is this COP that will set the path towards protecting 30% of the Oceans by 2030. But there are several countries that are ideologically against international cooperation or even protecting anything.
We will be getting petitions signed & postcards for our MP.
