HISTORY
Flavors on the Avenue is inspired by East Passyunk’s former Flavors food festival and fundraiser that dates back to 2007. It started under a giant tent with the city’s top chefs serving their own signature bites to a sold out crowd of 1,000 festival-goers. The event was a fundraiser to pay for Avenue services, such as street cleaning and safety.
After outgrowing the space and set-up, the event expanded in 2017 and went from the tent to the street. Capacity went from 1,000 to tens of thousands, making that year’s event the largest event in the history of East Passyunk. The tent is still gone and the event now continues to go from a parking lot to five blocks. The event has expanded and added family fun, live music, sidewalk sales and makers/artists. It continues to be the Avenue’s largest signature event of the year – and one of the biggest outdoor food festivals in the region.
