A Guided Tasting with Shannon from East West Wines
Join us at Spencer & Lynn for a guided tasting through Istria, Croatia; Fruška Gora, Serbia; and Bulgaria’s Thracian Valley with our friend Shannon from East West Wines.
Across six wines, we’ll meet three producers working with native grapes, thoughtful farming and low-intervention winemaking: Roxanich, Sagmeister and Zagreus. We’ll explore varieties including Kadarka, Pamid and Mavrud, along with skin contact, fermentation, aging and the cellar choices that give each wine its distinct character.
This is not about treating Southeastern Europe as one broad wine region. It is a closer look at three very different places, their local grapes and the producers working to express them. We’ll move from textured whites to bright, savory reds and deeper expressions of Mavrud, tasting how climate, soil and winemaking shape what ends up in the glass.
Shannon will introduce each region and estate, provide context for the bottles and guide us through the full lineup, with plenty of room for questions and conversation along the way.
No previous knowledge required. The point is not to memorize a map or six unfamiliar grape names. Just come curious and ready to taste.
