Pregnant and tired of “try not to worry”? Walk with a private midwife who’ll actually give you time, space, and friends on a similar journey
About this Event

You are up at 2am with racing thoughts, and Google is not helping.

An app can tell you why your mind is racing. It cannot walk beside you through the trees while you say the thing you have not said out loud, take a deep breath of fresh air, and let your shoulders drop. It cannot sense when to stay quiet, or know which question will unlock what you really mean.

What you need at 2am is not another screen. It is a real person beside you who knows how pregnancy actually feels, and has the time to listen until the noise quietens.

What antenatal classes don’t cover

Antenatal classes are good at what they’re built for: positions, stages of labour, pain relief options, the mechanics of what happens. What they were never designed to do is prepare you for how you’ll actually feel in the moment, how to manage fear when it hits, or how to ask for what you need when things get overwhelming. That’s not a criticism of the classes. It’s simply not what they’re for.

This is a walk surrounded by nature: small group, real conversation, and space to actually prepare psychologically for what’s ahead, not just physically.

Who this is for

  • You're feeling anxious, scared, or overwhelmed about pregnancy or birth, and don't quite know what to do with that
  • You don't have anyone in your life right now who really gets what you're going through
  • You've had questions come up that there simply wasn't time to get into during a routine appointment
  • You've heard something and thought "why didn't I know that?", the trouble is, you don't know what you don't know
  • You'd rather prepare properly than just feel soothed in the moment
  • You're finding pregnancy more isolating than anyone warned you it would be

How each walk works

Each walk opens with a different theme, from making sense of a previous birth that didn’t go how you’d hoped, to antenatal fear, to the identity shift of becoming a mother. But the session always follows what’s on your mind, not a script I’m reading at you.

Why the group matters as much as the midwife

Just as much as this is time with me, it’s a chance to connect with others who get it. Pregnancy can be a strangely isolating time even when you’re surrounded by people. Feeling genuinely understood by people going through the same thing is consistently linked to better mental wellbeing in pregnancy and beyond, not just something that feels nice at the time. Preparation feels different when you’re not doing it alone.

Who I am

I’m an Advanced Clinical Practitioner, midwife, Independent Prescriber, and Perinatal Mental Health Specialist. Sixteen years in NHS maternity care before stepping into private practice. I’ve spent that time watching women get reassured instead of properly prepared. I'm building this to be the opposite of that.

What to expect

  • Gentle movement at a pace that suits everybody, this isn't a fitness class, and nobody is left behind or rushing to keep up
  • Cafés along the route give us the option to stop and talk, or find a quiet spot instead if that suits the moment better, refreshments at your own cost.
  • Time and space for guidance, reflection, and practical planning, not just movement for its own sake
  • Small group, so it stays a real conversation, no boring lectures
  • Come with a question, or just come to listen

Why walking helps

A worried, overwhelmed nervous system doesn't calm down because you've been told the statistics. It calms down through movement, through being outdoors, and through being genuinely heard, not feeling like its on a conveyor belt. That's what this walk is built around, not just fresh air, but the conditions that actually let your nervous system settle.
