About this Event
Our Power, Our Planet is Earth Day 2026’s theme reflecting a fundamental truth: environmental progress doesn’t depend on any single administration or election. It’s sustained by daily actions of communities, educators, workers, and families.
With support from the Bumbleebee Conservation Trust, the activities in this event will help participants understand the role of pollinators and explore ways in which we can support them by creating new sources of food for them.
Led by the knowledgeable team at BCT, participants will be assisted in the process of catching and looking at the different bumblebee species in the park up close, learning how to identify each species. (Nets and pots provided for people to learn how to safe bee catching).
There'll also be drop-in craft sessions and seed ball making activities taking place outside the Secret Garden.
This is a family friendly event - participants of all ages and experience levels are welcome to attend!
Event information:
- This event will take place in the Secret Garden, near the park's Visitor Centre. There are toilet facilities nearby, including an accessible unit and a Changing Places facility.
- The entire event route is step-free, but involves grassy areas which may be trickier for wheelchairs. The nearest train station is Penge West.
- We will stick to paths where possible but there may be times when the ground is uneven, muddy or wet.
This is a free event as part of our community programming. Advance booking is essential as places are limited.
There are two sessions, at 1pm and 2pm, each lasting up to 1 hour.
Please arrive in advance of your session start time to get signed in before we start.
Access information:
