About this Event
Join the UU Animal Ministry of Houston and the First UU Spanish Ministry for a special Día de Muertos gathering celebrating animals, community, and our connection to the natural world.
Throughout the evening, guests can visit a special ofrenda honoring animal species that have gone extinct in recent years — a meaningful tribute to the remarkable animals our planet has lost.
Enjoy a festive all-vegan potluck featuring vegan mole enchiladas, along with good food, conversation, and community. Please bring a vegan dish to share — all food served at the event will be 100% plant-based.
We’re also delighted to welcome Ben Jones, Vice President of Conservation and Education at the Houston Zoo, who will share an engaging presentation about biodiversity loss, species extinction, and the work the Houston Zoo is doing to protect threatened wildlife and help prevent additional species from disappearing.
Come spend an inspiring evening remembering what has been lost, celebrating the incredible diversity of life on Earth, and learning about the work being done to protect species for the future.
The event takes place Saturday, October 17, at 6:30 PM at First Unitarian Universalist Church of Houston, 5200 Fannin Street.
Admission is free, but advance registration through Eventbrite is requested.
