This Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), join together to honor and remember the lives taken by ICE and Border Patrol. The "Día de los Muertos Day of Action: End the ICE Age" will take place from 1-2 pm on Monday, November 2, at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Battlefield Boulevard North in Chesapeake, VA. Sign up to attend via Mobilize at https://www.mobilize.us/mobilize/event/1061809/At this memorial and protest rally, those in attendance will demand an end to the violence and an end to the ICE Age. We'll gather and grieve publicly for the people who have died in ICE custody and have been killed by ICE and Border Patrol agents, drawing on the Día de los Muertos tradition of honoring loved ones.
This action is part of End the ICE Age, a national day of action happening in cities across the country, from October 31 through November 2. We're demanding Congress get ICE out of our communities, redirect ICE funding, and shut down ICE detention centers for good.
A core principle behind all Disappeared In America events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, are not allowed at events.
(This event is NOT hosted by Virginia Beach Resistance.)
