Celebrate Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) with the Rochester Spiritualist Society! We will be meeting at Brighton Town Park on Saturday, November 7th, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Carmen Clark Lodge.Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a holiday celebrated throughout Mexico and in many areas of the United States. The holiday centers around gatherings of family and friends to honor and remember loved ones who have passed away.
Similar to Spiritualist teachings, the spirits of our loved ones are not considered to be far away. They are welcomed with joy through celebrations filled with flowers, smiling skeletons, sweets and candies, favorite foods, music, and other meaningful offerings.
We will have a public Ofrenda (altar) where you are welcome to place a photograph of a loved one who has passed, along with a small offering of something they enjoyed in life, such as chocolate, a favorite drink or food, or even a cigar.
Message Service
We will begin our event with a short Message Service. Doors open at 12:00 PM for you to place a photograph, light a candle, or leave a memento on our public Ofrenda.
At 12:30 PM, following a short prayer dedicated to those who have passed into Spirit, our mediums will offer uplifting, healing, and evidential messages to those in attendance.
Our celebration will follow the Message Service.
