On November 19, 2025, our lives changed forever when Dylan suddenly passed away from an acute massive pulmonary embolism at just 34 years old.
The Dylan Janes Memorial Skate is a day to bring together family, friends, the hockey community and everyone who knew and loved Dylan to remember him, celebrate his life, raise awareness for pulmonary embolism, and give back in his memory.
Hockey was a huge part of Dylan’s life. It brought him lifelong friendships, countless memories and a community he loved. We couldn’t think of a more fitting way to honour him than bringing everyone together at the rink to skate, share stories, laugh and remember the person he was.
Most importantly, we want Dylan’s girls, Aubrey and Madison, to grow up remembering who their dad was with his infectious smile, big personality, goofy side, generous heart and the incredible dad he was. We want them to always hear the stories and know how deeply their dad was loved and how many lives he touched.
This day is also about raising awareness for blood clots and pulmonary embolism. Dylan’s passing was sudden and unexpected, and by sharing his story, we hope to help others recognize the warning signs and understand how serious pulmonary embolisms can be.
Giving back was important to Dylan. He supported and raised funds for Strathroy Hospice and Community Over Cancer, and funds raised from the Memorial Skate will support Strathroy Hospice in Dylan’s memory, continuing the generosity that was such a big part of who he was.
There will be a 50/50 draw, cash donations, raffle prizes, memorial apparel, wristbands and keychains with more details to come.
Whether you knew Dylan through hockey, work, friendship, family or the community, we hope you’ll join us to skate, share a Dylan story, have a laugh and celebrate a life that will never be forgotten, all while we raise money for Strathroy Hospice💙
