Durham Comics Club is back for our October meeting at Ment Bev Co. - 6:30PM on Sunday, October 25th! We also have three brand new books to vote for, and since it's that time of the season, they are all tinged with at least a little horror! So check out our vote post before October 3rd to make sure your voice is heard and check back next week for the result! This month's book options:
Marvel Zombies (Robert Kirkman, Sean Phillips) - On an Earth shockingly similar to the Marvel Universe's, an alien virus has mutated all of the world's greatest super heroes into flesh-eating monsters! It took them only hours to destroy life as we know it - but what happens when they run out of humans to eat?! Follow their search for more food, and witness the arrival of the Silver Surfer!
Where Monsters Lie (Kyle Starks, Piotr Kowalski) - Haven’t you always wondered what slasher monsters—the masked home invasion family, the mindless unkillable monster, the serial killer trapped in a doll—what they do for those couple of years in-between their murder sprees? They’re at Wilmhurst—a gated community in the middle of nowhere where they relax—or try to—until they get the call to go out and K*ll again. Connor Hayes survived his first slasher in summer camp. A handful of years later he barely escaped a psychopath who built torture puzzles for his victims. Since then he’s been training and planning for running into these creatures again. He’s a respected special agent. And now he knows where the monsters lie and he’s planning for war.
DC vs. Vampires Vol. 1 (James Tynion IV, Matthew Rosenberg, Otto Schmidt) - The war for Earth isn’t beginning… it’s already here! It’s the heroes of the DC Universe against the undead in an epic fight for the very survival of the human race!
The Justice League has long protected Earth from all manner of foreign and alien invaders over the years, always keeping a vigilant eye to the skies for the next threat. But what if the threat was already walking the Earth…hiding in plain sight…watching…waiting for their moment to strike…
A mysterious new vampire lord has already put a plan in motion to conquer the Earth, and his horde are hunting on the streets of Gotham. Can Batman save his city—or will he succumb to the undead plague?
