Philippe Quesne rewolucjonizuje tradycyjny proces twórczy, rozpoczynając pracę nad każdym spektaklem od budowy przestrzeni scenicznej. Podobnie tworzy wystawę w Cricotece. „Duchy i pejzaże” to immersyjny świat – z własnymi prawami fizyki, przyrodą, a nawet mikroklimatem.
W wiwariach Quesne'a tradycyjna hierarchia teatralna ulega zatarciu.
Poza instalacjami widzowie będą mogli obejrzeć projekcje trzech spektakli: La Mélancolie des dragons – kultowy spektakl opowiadający o grupie hardrockowców, którzy w ośnieżonej leśnej scenerii próbują uruchomić zepsutego citroëna i projektują idealny, melancholijny park rozrywki dla starszej pani; Jardin des délices – widowiskową, retro-futurystyczną odyseję inspirowaną malarstwem Hieronima Boscha, łączącą ekologiczną science fiction z konwencją westernu; La Nuit des taupes / Welcome to Caveland – spektakl przenosi widzów do podziemnego świata gigantycznych kretów, które budują własną mikrowspólnotę.
Wystawa z hasłem „NO NATURE, NO FUTURE” będzie współgrającym z dotychczasowym dorobkiem francuskiego reżysera, aktem pasywnego oporu wobec lęku przed końcem świata. „Duchy i pejzaże” zapowiedzą premierę spektaklu Philippe’a Quesne’a w Narodowym Starym Teatrze w Krakowie.

🔵 "Ghosts and Landscapes"
🔵 Philippe Quesne
🔵 Opening reception: 18 November 2026, 6:00 PM
🔵 Cricoteka, 2–4 Nadwiślańska Street
🔵 The exhibition will be open to visitors from 19 November 2026 to 28 February 2027.
Philippe Quesne revolutionizes the traditional creative process by beginning work on each performance with the construction of the stage space. He approaches the exhibition at Cricoteka in a similar way. "Ghosts and Landscapes" is an immersive world with its own laws of physics, nature, and even microclimate. His scenographies are autonomous landscapes: meteors, layers of artificial snow, fans, as well as stuffed or artificial animals appear on stage. Rather than following a plot, viewers are invited to contemplate these painterly, highly atmospheric and melancholic images.
The exhibition of Philippe Quesne’s autonomous visual and sound installations, which continue to function independently after the theatrical performances from which they originate have ceased to exist, will offer insight into the director’s aesthetics and creative methods across different periods of his theatrical practice.
In Quesne’s vivariums, the traditional theatrical hierarchy becomes blurred. Everyday objects (such as ladders, old wigs, a car, musical instruments or an inflatable dinghy) do not function as ordinary props – they become autonomous actors with agency of their own. It is precisely this particular sensitivity to the materiality of theatre, to the status of props and the subjectivity of objects, that brings Quesne’s work closer to that of Tadeusz Kantor. During his teenage years, Quesne had the opportunity to experience Kantor’s work firsthand.
In addition to the installations, visitors will be able to watch screenings of three performances: "La Mélancolie des dragons" – a cult performance about a group of hard rockers who, in a snowy forest setting, attempt to get a broken-down Citroën running and devise an ideal, melancholic amusement park for an elderly woman; "Jardin des délices" – a spectacular retro-futuristic odyssey inspired by the paintings of Hieronymus Bosch, combining ecological science fiction with the conventions of the Western; "La Nuit des taupes / Welcome to Caveland" – a performance that transports viewers into an underground world of giant moles who build their own micro-community.
Bearing the slogan "NO NATURE, NO FUTURE", the exhibition will serve as an act of passive resistance to the fear of the end of the world, in keeping with the French director’s artistic practice to date. "Ghosts and Landscapes" will also announce the premiere of a performance by Philippe Quesne at the National Old Theatre in Kraków.
