About this Event

In today’s highly partisan society, creating stories involving controversial social, political and moral issues is fraught with risk. A recent front page article in The New York Times reported how even the all-American notion of “The American Dream” has become weaponized. In this panel directors and writers screening films at his year’s DTLA Film Fest discuss their motives for tackling hot-button issues, the challenges of keeping true to their vision without alienating audiences, and how in some case they were able to inject humor into their movies.

MODERATOR: Greg Ptacek, DTLA Film Festival Director

PANELISTS:

  • Sophie Galibert, director/ Cherry
  • Florencia Krochik, director/ The Rest of Us
  • Zuzka Kurtz, Geoffrey Hug, co-directors/ Hudson America
  • Joel Tauber, director/ Border-Ball

Each panel will be followed by a 30-minute networking reception hosted by Southnorte Beer Company and SAS Movie Studios. Food will be available for purchase by celebrity Chef Creolle Bistro. Hosted coffee presented by Pluma.
