About this Event
Industries including Chemicals, Petrochemicals, Pharmaceuticals, Oil & Gas, Food, Water, Utilities, Renewables, Storage, Mining, Energy, and Laboratories are all examples of workplaces that handle hazardous materials and therefore fall under the scope of the Dangerous Substances Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2002 (DSEAR).
Under DSEAR, employers are legally required to undertake risk assessments of dangerous substances present at their workplace and implement control measures to protect both their workforce and members of the public from the effect of fires, explosions and other similar events, due to activities taking place on the site. The wide range of hazardous substances covered under DSEAR includes the obvious, for example, flammable solvents such as fuels, to the less obvious, such as combustible dusts.
In this technical briefing, the presenters will share their first-hand experience to help promote a better understanding of DSEAR. This will include how DSEAR fits into process safety management practices, and the methodologies for carrying out a thorough DSEAR assessment, including ignition risk assessment and hazardous area classification. We will also advise on practical application and selection of equipment protection concepts to achieve the required ATEX rating.
