🐟🐟🐟 The salmon are coming and we want them to have an unobstructed, trash-free arrival as they approach their spawning grounds in the Dry Creek Watershed!!! Therefore, we are hosting our first ever RCWA Dry Creek Cleanup. Please come out and help us clear the channel for the Salmon and improve other wildlife habitat by removing trash and other channel obstructions! After the event, please plan to head over to the Salmon Homecoming festival hosted by the Dry Creek Conservancy where RCWA will have a booth! https://www.facebook.com/events/2421151305357524/We will park in the western-most (gravel) parking lot at beautiful Dry Creek Community Park. The work site will be both downstream and upstream of Walerga Road. PLEASE be on time (early ok) since we we will be heading to the creek at 8:30 am SHARP.
AGE LIMIT: This event is not suitable for minors under 12 years old. Minors 12 and older are invited, but must be supervised by a responsible adult during the entire event.
There will be plenty of hard-core badgering (digging out the big stuff), but also lots of easy detail work along the flat floodplain above the creek. We will provide bags, but please bring along your waders and/or sturdy, mud-resistant footwear, grabbers, buckets, and gloves - a limited number of loaner buckets and grabbers may be available. Shovels and wagons will also be VERY helpful for this event.
As there is water in the creek, participants will be required to wear rain boots or waders if they intend to get into the water. Entry into any waters is always optional, but is definitely helpful in this area.
As with all events shared on RCWA, participation is performed solely at your own risk. Please place safety FIRST and do only what you feel comfortable doing. Moreover, participants will be required to sign a Release and Waiver form if they have not done so previously.
