What You'll Experience
Drumming 4 Every 1 is an inclusive and safe drumming experience where students learn the basics of rhythm, hand drum and percussion techniques, ensemble play, and timing skills while working through various parts of the World Music Drumming curriculum. After the 10-week program, students walk away with an understanding of musical concepts like call and response, son clave, counting, and other beginning musical concepts. Participants will also learn to enhance their self-regulation and social skills through our community-based instructional method.
A make-up date of April 10, 2027, is reserved in case any class needs to be cancelled for any reason, including inclement weather.
Meet Your Instructor: Ray Nelson
Ray Nelson has been playing drums since age 11 and hand drums since age 26. He is a certified Drum Circle Facilitator through Village Music Circles and a Level 3 teacher of the World Music Drumming Curriculum.
What began in 2019 as an opportunity for people with disabilities to enjoy facilitated drum circles grew into the Drumming 4 Every 1 adaptive curriculum in 2021. Since then, the program has expanded to include multiple classes each year and a Summer Drummer Camp.
