About this Event
This will be a gentle, interactive 90-minute session where participants explore their inner emotional landscape through a blend of writing and drawing.
Rooted in her Draw Your Feelings book, the session centers around a simple but powerful idea: we can better understand our emotions by turning them into metaphors.
By translating abstract feelings into concrete images and poetic language, participants are able to access, express, and relate to their inner world in a more tangible way.
What Participants Will Experience:
- A guided reflection to identify a present emotion
- Creating a personal metaphor (e.g. “grief is a heavy iron ball”)
- Writing a short, accessible feelings-based poem
- Translating their metaphor into a simple drawing
- Optional sharing and reflection in pairs or as a group
Tone & Approach:
This playful session is calm, reflective, and accessible to all—no artistic or writing experience is needed. The focus is not on creating something “good,” but on creating something honest.
Participants will leave with a small piece of personal writing and artwork that captures something true about their inner experience.

Rukmini Poddar is the artist and author behind Draw Your Feelings, a creative methodology that helps people connect with and express their emotions through art. Her work has reached over 100,000 people and has been published by Penguin Random House.
Rukmini guides participants to translate their inner experiences into simple drawings, visual metaphors, and personal symbols—making the invisible visible. Her approach is gentle, accessible, and rooted in the belief that everyone is an artist, and that creativity can be a powerful tool for emotional understanding and healing.
