SANE has been campaigning for better mental health services across the UK for 40 years. Every year they offer practical, free-of-charge assistance to thousands of individuals and families coping with a wide range of mental health conditions, from depression to schizophrenia. Through their specialist out-of-hours helpline, SANEline, and its associated services.
They do not receive government or lottery funding. Every pound received makes a genuine difference, helping so many mentally unwell people and their families.
SANE has a long association with the arts and for many years has held a successful awards scheme providing grants to individuals wishing to further their artistic development. The SANE Creative Awards Scheme helps people living with mental ill health develop their art skills and move closer towards their goals and potential. So far, they have helped hundreds of artists from across the UK buy new materials, sign up for courses and mount exhibitions. More than this, the scheme offers award-winners validation as artists and encouragement to follow their creative dreams.
