About this Event
Overview
The California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) is notifying California Federally Recognized Tribes that the Tribal Homeless Housing, Assistance and Prevention (Tribal HHAP) Round 5 Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) is anticipated for release in November 2026, rather than the initial publication timing of October 2026.
Program Overview
HCD has approximately $25.9 million to California’s Federally Recognized Tribes to support locally designed, culturally grounded solutions that prevent and end homelessness in Tribal communities. Tribes can choose the approaches that work best for their communities, including permanent housing, prevention services, interim housing, and other non‑housing supports like transportation or counseling.
As a result of the delayed publication of the Final NOFA, HCD is also extending the application deadline to February 2027. HCD will announce the specific due date when the Final NOFA, Standard Agreement Boilerplate, and Application are published.
Workshop: Preview of Draft Round 5 Tribal HHAP NOFA & Application
Based on the feedback gathered during our previous listening sessions, we have incorporated your input into the latest draft of the Round 5 materials. While the documents are still in draft form, they reflect the most up‑to‑date information we have available. As we prepare for the release of the final NOFA, we would like to invite you to in‑person workshops to walk through the application process using these draft materials.
