The Down Syndrome Festival & 5K is back on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at the Myriad Botanical Gardens, and we would love for you to be part of this incredible day.
This event is all about celebrating the extra 21st chromosome while bringing our community together to support acceptance, inclusion, and opportunity for individuals with Down syndrome. Whether you choose to run, walk, fundraise, or simply attend the festival, there is a place for everyone.
Event Details:
The 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run will kick off at 8:00 AM at the start line on Sheridan Avenue. The Awareness Walk will begin lining up at 9:45 AM, followed by a full morning of festival fun on the Great Lawn starting at 10:00 AM.
After the races and walk, stay and enjoy a festival packed with activities for all ages including inflatables, face painting, carnival games, music, talent shows, raffles, cotton candy, and local food trucks. We will also have resource vendors on-site to provide helpful information and connect with families.
Event Schedule:
7:00 – 8:00 AM: Registration & Check-In (Sheridan Lawn)
8:00 AM: 5K & 1-Mile Fun Run (Sheridan Avenue)
9:45 AM: Awareness Walk (Sheridan Avenue)
10:00 AM: Festival Begins (Great Lawn)
11:30 AM: Raffle Drawings (Band Shell)
This event is free and open to the public, and complimentary parking is available in the lots just south of the gardens (accessible from Reno Avenue). We recommend arriving early to grab a good spot.
Start a Team & Get Involved:
Families, friends, and coworkers are encouraged to create teams to walk, run, and raise funds together. Many teams go all out with matching shirts, posters, and fundraising goals. Once you register, you can begin collecting donations online, by cash, check, or credit card.
Why It Matters:
This is DSACO’s largest fundraising event of the year, and every dollar raised stays right here in central Oklahoma to support programs and services for individuals with Down syndrome and their families.
These programs include:
• Free tutoring and enrichment opportunities
• Cooking classes for teens and adults
• New parent support and resources
• Workshops for families, educators, and self-advocates
• Scholarships for national conferences
• Community events and outreach initiatives
Together, we are working to raise awareness, provide resources, and promote acceptance and inclusion for people with Down syndrome.
