Dounia, 6 ans, est élevée en Syrie par ses grands-parents, après la mort de sa mère et l’arrestation de son père. Sa grand-mère veille particulièrement à lui donner tout ce qui peut nourrir son intelligence et l’amour de sa culture, des plats cuisinés qu’elle adore aux contes dont elle raffole. Parmi ceux-ci, la fillette aime particulièrement "La Princesse d’Alep", héroïne à qui elle va s’identifier quand la guerre la forcera à quitter la Syrie. Dounia entamera alors un long voyage, qui la mènera en Europe, puis au Canada; avec, en guise d’uniques protections, son courage, son imagination et ses précieuses graines de nigelle.CINÉPSY est une série de projections présentée par l’Association des psychothérapeutes psychanalytiques du Québec, où des films sont explorés sous le regard de cliniciens et de praticiens des sciences humaines inspirés par la psychanalyse.

In Syria, six-year-old Dounia lives with her grandparents, who surround her with love and tenderness. When a bomb destroys their home, they join their neighbours on a long journey to escape the military conflict ravaging the country and make their way to Europe. With the support of Leila, the princess of Aleppo, Ishtar, the protector of farmers, and five magic seeds, the migrants overcome the obstacles that stand in their way to a peaceful, normal life far from their homeland.
CINÉPSY is a series presented by the Association des psychothérapeutes psychanalytiques du Québec that explores films through the perspectives of clinicians and human sciences practitioners inspired by psychoanalysis.
